when unfolded,
show some edge not involved
in rainfall, if springs cut the land
as fan-shapes, or carve themselves
into a curl tracing a crone's eye
through the dust, if the crops fail,
or if they flourish, rising out of red
soil in some golden silence of the sun,

bones, in secrecy
