Following his eighth solo studio record Grunt, Derek Piotr releases Repeating Bloom EP. A collection of remixes of “Repeating Bloom” (the second track lifted from Grunt following “Earth Edit”), the EP is comprised of de- and re-constructions of one of the album’s few repetitive rhythmic compositions.

The diverse contributions compiled here include reworkings by microsound artist Simon Whetham, UK produceress Elsa Hewitt, Hokkaido OP-1 wizard STEEEZO "EEE", and return contributor Chaircrusher. Each artist provides a uniquely compelling reinterpretation of the pulses and buzzes of “Repeating Bloom”. Hewitt transforms the piece into ambient hypnotism, all clockwork percussion and gorgeously breathy murmurs. The drilling percussion and twinkling textures of STEEEZO “EEE”’s remix evoke several late-90s Aphex Twin tracks being played simultaneously, while Whetham spins the original’s backing textures into a vivid frequency-rich focal point. Chaircrusher’s shuffling techno offers the most immediately accessible take on the source material.

The EP also includes a remix of Grunt track “Let” by MA-based producer Reuben Walton, a hazy half-life mis-memory of Piotr’s composition.
